When developing the title card for the Hulu show Ramy, we moved ahead with a visual direction inspired by the classic titles of the 60’s and 70’s. To achieve this retro feel, it was important to lean into graphic typography and simple design. We utilized the curved forms of the Arabic spelling of Ramy to contrast the blocky forms of the title card, and utilized quick graphic cuts and linear keyframing to match the look of animations from yesteryear. The typography appears slightly burned in, and a small amount of wiggle is slightly reminiscent of the ambient movement caused by a film strip.
